Limbus Health is a clinician-led company building AI infrastructure for psychiatric assessment. Founded by Dr. Marie Claire Bourque, MD, FRCPC, a practicing psychiatrist in British Columbia and Ontario, Limbus addresses the access gap in specialist mental-health care — where the wait for a psychiatric assessment is often measured in months.
The Limbus system, a software medical device currently in development, is designed to conduct structured diagnostic interviews and organize clinical evidence using a Bayesian framework — treating assessment as evidence accumulation rather than black-box prediction. It is designed so that every case is reviewed by a psychiatrist before any diagnosis is finalized; the clinician owns the clinical decision.
Limbus is not yet licensed for clinical use. Authorization from Health Canada is pending (as of June 2026), and the company makes no claims of diagnostic accuracy or clinical efficacy while validation is ongoing. Limbus Health is based in British Columbia, Canada.

Dr. Marie Claire Bourque.
Dr. Marie Claire Bourque, MD, FRCPC, is a Royal College–certified psychiatrist practicing in British Columbia and Ontario, and the founder of Limbus Health. Her career on the front line of the access gap — emergency departments, inpatient wards, and outpatient assessment — led her to build clinician-led infrastructure that brings structure and rigor to psychiatric assessment. She is Limbus Health’s founder and sole developer, pairing clinical judgment with the engineering to deliver it.
